Tell Patrick Gorman: Stop Woodside's Gas Rip Off

You need to hold Perth MP Patrick Gorman to account for the federal Labor government's failure to protect our climate, future and culture!

Despite being elected on a promise of climate action, the federal Labor government just gave provisional approval to Woodside’s extension to the North West Shelf, the oldest, dirtiest gas plant in Australia and keystone to the Burrup Hub mega-gas project. Labor looks set to make a final approval by as early as the end of this week — despite the warnings of almost 60 scientists and experts who’ve publicly told Labor the North West Shelf should not proceed.

The fight’s not over – and there are still plenty of steps Woodside needs to take before they can execute their full plans for the Burrup Hub gas mega-project. As things stand, Woodside is running out of gas to fill the capacity of the North West Shelf, and they still need approval to drill for Browse gas at Scott Reef. The Browse project would be disastrous for endangered marine life, risk massive oil spills, and pump more than a billion tonnes of carbon pollution into the atmosphere. In addition, our federal Labor politicians need to be held accountable for their failure to protect our climate and future. They need to feel the heat from the WA community.

To reject Browse and take real action on climate, our federal government needs to be able to demonstrate that the community strongly opposes the Burrup Hub. As part of a state-wide day of action, will you join our protest outside federal politician and Assistant to the Prime Minister, Patrick Gorman’s office at 8am on Friday morning to make some noise and make your feelings known? We’ll hand Minister Gorman a copy of an open letter signed by renowned scientists, calling on federal Labor to reject the North.
