Let’s be honest – anything could happen at our federal election on Saturday, May 3rd, and the results will impact our campaigns. But one thing’s for certain: we will continue our fight to stop new gas projects in WA. 

That’s why, no matter the result, we’re hosting an all-in call on May 6th to debrief the election and get ready for the next phase in our campaigns for WA to #GoBeyondGas!  

It’s been a busy year for the climate movement, with two elections back-to-back and a federal decision on Woodside’s North West Shelf looming. But together, we’ve achieved so much – thousands of postcard petitions signed, thousands of flyers in letterboxes, hundreds of signs in key electorates, as well as stalls, events, protests, meetings with politicians and candidates, and more! We’ve put our all into making sure climate is on the agenda this election. It’s no wonder we’re nervous to see the results!  

Once the election’s over, our new federal government must make their decision to approve or reject Woodside’s North West Shelf extension – Australia's biggest climate decision – by May 31st.  This could be your final chance to demonstrate public opposition to this mega-gas project and mount pressure on our decision makers - to help stop the most climate-polluting project in the southern hemisphere. 

Let’s gather after the election to celebrate what we’ve achieved together, understand the results and what they mean for our movement, and look forward to the final push in our fight to stop Woodside’s North West Shelf.
