One of Australia's biggest climate decisions is coming any day now, as we await federal and state decisions on Woodside's North West Shelf Extension, a key part of the Burrup Hub. Woodside plans to continue processing gas at the North West Shelf until 2070, and drill up to 50 wells in to the pristine Scott Reef to mine the Browse gas basin. If this proposal goes ahead, there is also an increased threat of fracking in the Kimberley.
In the lead up to these decisions and to our upcoming state and federal elections, it is now more important than ever to show our decision makers how Western Australians really feel about the climate and gas.
That's why on Saturday morning 2nd November we're conducting a community survey to prove to our politicians that the average punter wants WA to #GoBeyondGas and reject the North West Shelf Extension! This will also be a chance to gather signatures on a petition to our decision makers, and make our movement more visible by distributing Go Beyond Gas stickers throughout our neighbourhoods.
But first, we're running an online training session to teach you everything you need to know to get involved and #SurveryYourSuburb (or even just your street)!
Join our training session at 6pm Thursday 17th October online.
What to expect:
- A quick recap of the North West Shelf campaign so far, and our strategy to win
- Learn how to conduct our community survey in your local area
- Conversation practice using our handy guide
We can't wait to see you there!
