📣 Urgent: Call party for a NWS federal rejection 📣
The WA government has approved the disastrous North West Shelf gas extension, potentially locking in the Burrup Hub 6 billion tonnes of emissions and putting Murujuga’s ancient rock art, a UNESCO World Heritage-nominated treasure, at grave risk.
This decision risks catastrophic environmental destruction, including drilling 50 gas wells near Scott Reef and opening the Kimberley to fracking.
But the fight isn’t over. The Federal Government still has the power to stop this project—and they need to hear from us now.
🔥 This is urgent. This decision is a test of the Albanese Government’s commitment to tackling the climate crisis and protecting our cultural heritage. Let’s make it clear that the community will not stand by as our future is sacrificed for fossil fuel profits.
🎤 What is a Call Party?
At midday this Wednesday, join us for a collective action where we’ll meet online, hear a quick briefing, and watch a phone call example. Then everyone will make their own calls in a brief 30 mins high impact action. We will be calling and leaving a message for:
- Your federal MP
- Minister Tanya Plibersek
- Prime Minister Anthony Albanese
We’ll leave powerful messages demanding that the Federal Government reject this project and uphold their promises to act on climate change. Together, our voices will amplify the urgency of this issue.
This is our chance to show our leaders that the community is united and determined to protect Australia’s climate, culture, and future. Every call matters.Â
