Any day now, our state government will decide to approve or reject Woodside’s North West Shelf extension, one of Australia's oldest and most polluting gas processing facilities.
Extending the life of the North West Shelf Extension until 2070 is the next stage of Woodside’s plans to expand its dangerous Burrup Hub project, which would have a disastrous impact on not only our climate but also pristine marine ecosystems. Woodside plans for the Northwest Shelf gas processing facility to use Browse gas, from a gas field lying below Scott Reef!
Following delays to this proposal, we are expecting to hear a decision from State Environment Minister Reece Whitby in the coming weeks. Now is the time to ramp up the pressure, spread the word, and get ready for big news.
We need your help getting the word out about this project in a way that will be fun, easily understood, and easily shareable! Please join us at 6pm Thursday August 22 at the CCWA office for our first ever “memening”.
What to expect:
- An update on the Northwest Shelf and next steps
- Designing memes which can be used far and wide ahead of the state decision
- Have a laugh and bond over our shared concerns for our climate and environment
No experience in meme-making is required, and we will show you everything you need to know.
RSVP is essential. Snacks will be provided.
