Tell NOPSEMA: Reject Santos's massive spill risk

Santos is proposing new gas drilling off Western Australia’s coast — and the risk of a devastating spill is massive 🚨

Santos's Bedout gas project would allow up to seven offshore gas wells to be drilled near some of WA’s most precious marine environments, including just 40 kilometres away from the Rowley Shoals Marine Park.

This kind of drilling comes with real dangers:

  • massive spills of oil or other hydrocarbons that could impact Rowley Shoals, Ningaloo, Scott Reef, Murujuga, Shark Bay and other protected areas
  • super-loud seismic blasting that disrupts whales and other marine life
  • industrial light and pollution in fragile ocean ecosystems
  • more fossil fuel expansion when we should be moving beyond gas

Right now, the offshore regulator NOPSEMA is accepting public submissions on this proposal — and community voices matter.

We’ve put together a briefing note to help you understand the project make your voice heard.

👉 Read our briefing note and then make your submission

Your submission will count: you don’t need to be an expert. Even a short submission can make a difference.

The public comment period closes soon, on 8 January.

Our oceans and our climate are too important to risk for yet another gas export project.

Thanks for standing up for our oceans 💙
