Joondalup Community Climate Meeting

Calling all nature lovers and climate activists in the Joondalup electorate!

We've just had the hottest year on record. In the coming months, we will have a WA state election, an Australian federal election and final decisions on Woodside's North West Shelf Extension and Browse gas coming up. The NWS Extension and Browse gas project in Scott Reef are both key parts of the Burrup Hub, which will be the most polluting projects in the Southern Hemisphere, emitting over 14 times Australia's annual emissions over it's lifetime!

What does this all mean? Right now is the most critical and opportune time to take action and #GoBeyondGas. History tells us we need to take collective action and build power to win!

Join the Joondalup Go Beyond Gas group on Sunday 8th December from 2:30pm - 4pm at Newcombe Park in Padbury and become part of something big!

Go Beyond Gas is hosting a climate coffee catch-up to create a space for locals to connect and collaborate. At the last meeting of the year, you can expect to:

  • Meet other nature and climate activists in Joondalup area
  • Discuss local and state climate matters.
  • Connect on stories of resilience and resistance
  • Discuss plans and prepare signs for the 'Neighbourhood Poster Drop'
  • Make plans for the new year!

The climate is changing rapidly and we're all feeling the effects. Given recent global news, if you are feeling worried about what our collective future will look like, then this is the place for you! After all, taking action is the key to having hope in the face of adversity.

We'll be banding together to discuss how to take on gas giant Woodside's polluting gas projects, and grow GBG's visibility in the community so that everyone is talking about climate change over the next few months!

Together, we can make a real difference for our collective futures!

Please RSVP to confirm attendance. You just need to bring yourself. Anyone is welcome, so feel free to bring a friend or two 😊

See you there!
